Here you can find some of the Apulian wines which have the DOC title, listed for colour or type and production zone.
Production zone: In apulia there is the production of very good white wines such as the one of San Severo, the white of Ostuni and the rare and very valuable "Verdeca" of Gravina.


APULIAN ROSÈ:

WINE CASTEL DEL MONTE - Production zone: all the town territory of Minervino Murge and part of the town territories of Andria, Corato, Trani, Ruvo di Puglia, Terlizzi, Bitonto, Palo del Colle and others. Characteristics: a little strong ruby colour; crystal look. Fragrance of elegant and subtle vinosity with a particular and sharp fruity component.
A dry and velvety taste of balanced freshness. Alcoholic strength: 11.5°.
Gastronomic matching: Gentle and refined companion for sausages, stewed fishes, white roasted meat or red meat with fine sauces. Excellent with fried mushrooms and vegetables.

 

WINE ROSÈ OF SALENTO - Production zone: the Murgia of Salento which includes wide zones of the province of Brindisi and Lecce.
Characteristics: a little strong ruby colour, crystal and lively look. Fragrance of elegant and subtle vinosity, a very fine fruity tone with aromatic suggestions. Dry, soft and hot taste, sometimes generous of measured freshness, almost always armonic. Alcoholic strength:13°.
Gastronomic matching: Excellent with fish soups, spicy regional sausages, sausages of Spinazzola, smoked sausages, roasted white meat, roasted kid ans lamb.

APULIAN RED:

RED OF CERIGNOLA - Production zone: Cerignola and the surrounding areas ( wine not still DOC).
Characteristics: very strong ruby colour, hot; bright look. Fragrance with a subtle and deep vinosity which after a shrewd ageing becomes a composite bouquet. Dry taste, lightly astringent, fleshy, generous, full, soft and velvety. Alcoholic strength: 12.5-13°.
Gastronomic matching: It is good with red meat, important sauces, game and local hard cheese.

RED OF CASTEL DEL MONTE - Production zone: all the town territory of Minervino Murge and part of the neighbouring towns.
Characteristics: ruby colour tended to garnet red and orange, a very brilliant look. Fragrance with a pleasant and subtle vinosity with an almost aromatic characteristic scent. Dry, soft and smooth, hot, fruity taste of measured freshness. Alcoholic strength: 12°.
Gastronomic matching: Very good companion of white and red meat without important sauces, roasted rabbit, horse roulade, etc.

RED OF SAN SEVERO - Production zone: the town territory of San Severo, Torremaggiore, S. Paolo Civitate and part of the territory of Apricena, Lucera, Poggio Imperiale and Lesina. Characteristics: ruby colour tended to brick red after ageing; brilliant look. Winy odour with a pleasant, strong fragrance. Dry, fresh, moderate, full and harmonic taste. Alcoholic strength: 11.5°.
Gastronomic matching: It is very good with roasted kid and lamb, grilled meat, rabbit meat sauce.

RED OF SQUINZANO - Production zone: all the town territory of Squinzano and neighbouring hamlets.
Characteristics: strong ruby colour tended to garnet red after ageing; brilliant look. Winy fragrance almost neutral. Dry, full hot taste of balanced freshness. Alcoholic strength: 13°.
Gastronomic matching: Very good companion of red roasted and grilled meat, game local hard and ripe cheese.


Much more wines are produced in the region and recently also very good sparkling wines, produced with a classic system. We can list: the "Primitivo" (of Manduria, Castellana Grotte and Putignano) strong red colour and generous taste; the "Ermellino" of Locorotondo, freshly white with a particular bouquet. Among the wines for dessert there is the "Moscato" of Trani it is the most representative, with its gold yellow colour, very fine fragrance with a clear aromatic component melted with a rose fragrance, sweet but not sugary taste, a great wine for dessert.
